The mined material consists of annual eposits of <br />sediments on a point bar of the Animas River at this location. The applicant ses a front <br />end loader or backhoe to periodically excavate and remove sand from this bar y skimming <br />those deposits lying above the low water elevation of the river. Although dra mgs of the <br />point bar indicate approximately 15,000 cubic yards of available material, the pplicant <br />estimates an annual excavation of up to approximately 5,000 cubic yards. <br />
