Harding Lawson drilled all of We LRP holes for this project
and subsequently abandoned or completed the holes as piezometers.
Ms. Pavlik stated that LRP-4 had been improperly completed because a bentonite seal or packer
was not installed above the sand Sher pack before filling the remainder of the annular space with
cement grout. Ms. Pavlik also stated that if the water level in this piezometer remains completely
static overtime, it would indicate that the piemmeter is not well coalieded to the aquifer. The
data provided in HLA's letter shows that the water level in LRP-4 is not static; therefore, it can
be assumed that the.piezometer is functioning properly. MCC has installed a number of
piezometers similar to LRP-4 that have been monitored for some time, and are fimctioning
properly. LRP-4 will contimre to be monitored by MCC, as it is providing data that will be useful
for the upcoming refuse pile expansion revision.
Please let me know if this information addresses the Division's concerns. Please call if you have
any questions.
cc: Norm Every
Kathy Welt
0313%.doc
R~~F1~lFD
~ 2 "1 1996
pivision 01 Minerals ~ "dp1O~v
