Our tenative schedule
for processing this application is as follows:
1. January 23 - Before the Board of County Commissioners
for referral to the Planning Commission
2. February 8 - Planning Commission
3. February 21 - Public Hearing before the Board of County
Commissioners
Any approvals will be conditional based on your acceptance and approval
of their MLR permits.
Mobil Pre-Mix has also made application with Garfield County to operate
an asphalt batch plant and a casting plant and storage area at their
~ ,~ZC existing gravel pit. The existing pit is located in Section 15, T65,
~~ R93W. We would like to confirm with you that the operators are currently
~~(• in compliance with all of MLR permit requirements. The anticipated
,t'' schedule for the processing of this application is roughly the same as
what has been set for Asphalt Paving Company.
Our Department has begun a Special and Conditional Use Permit monitoring
program. Many of the older sand and gravel pits are included in this
~~ program. A recent investigation of an older pit known as the Mabel
~ ~ Harness and Leslie Wheeler pit (State Department of Highways) showed
that the pit area had been encroached upon by the Colorado river.
~; Basically, a washout had occured allowing the river to enter on the
east end of the pit and exit on the west end of the pit.
