Boa 1821
COLORADO SPRINGS COLORADO 80301
iii iiiiiiiiniiiiii
999
We have done some more checking ofthe drainages from the GEC mine site, and we have
found some interesting facts.
Newlin Creek before it joins Magpie Creek is lined with rounded river stones without silt
deposits and no coal. Immediately after joining Magpie Creek, Newlin Creek changes
character immediately with very few stretches of river rocks. There are vast areas of silt
deposition similar to those in Magpie Creek, and there are considerable places with coal in
the silt deposits. There aze several places in this downstream portion of Newlin Creek
with debris from GEC. The change in Newlin Creek from the portion upstream of Magpie
Creek to the portion downstream of Magpie Creek is very striking and dramatic.
We walked Newlin Creek for about 1500' past the confluens, and the silt, coal, and debris
all continue to that point. It would be interesting to see how faz they would be found on
toward the Arkansas.
Please contact us if you have any questions about our Endings.
Sincerely,
///
W.D.
