Lone
Dear Mr. and Mre. Stratman; o~.,,ion Duecini
During the Division's last inspection of the O.C. Coal Mine conducted on
September 25, 1995, I met with Mre. Stratman and Bob Harris who represents the
Gunnison County Road and Bridge division. The purpose of our meeting was to
discuss a reclamation plan for the road which would satisfy you as the landowner,
and the county. I am providing this letter as a summary of our meeting. Please
let me know if I have misstated anything that was discussed.
The road to the mine is a county road and ends at the mine. In the past, the
county has used the lower bench of the O.C. f2 Mine for their turn-a-round for
snow plows and other road maintenance equipment. With the reclamation of the
mine, the use of the bench for a turn-a-round is no longer feasible. There is
a wide spot in the road between the entrance gate to the mine and where the road
splits. Mr. Harris believed this section of road would be adequate to use as a
turn-a-round. You stated that you had no objections and et ated that you would
like the road to the upper bench and explosive magazines to be reclaimed. Mr.
Harris stated that the county would continue to maintain the culvert installed
by the county that is located to the east of the mine identification sign. He
also stated that when the mine is reclaimed it should continue to drain water
away from the road. The reclamation plan will ensure that water will continue
to drain away from the road.
According to you and Mr. Harris, Mr. Weaver hoe met with Marlene Crosby of the
Road and Bridge division and discussed the same plan. Mr. Weaver and I also
discussed this plan the day after we met and he confirmed his understanding of
the plan.
Please call if you have any questions.
' ~~
_ /
Christine E. .Y27hn
Environmental Pr ec ion Specialist
cc: Bob Harris, Gunnison County Road & Bridge
Robert Weaver
CEJ/002RD.925
