DEPT. CIF NATURAL RESO::ZCES
Re: Maintenance Work - McClane Canyon
Dear Mr. Munson:
Salt Creek has experienced a slide along McClane Canyon road at
the East Salt Creek Crossing. Though small (less than 5 cu. yd.)
this slide has blocked the inlet of the existing 72" culvert.
To correct this problem and reduce the chances of reoccurrence,
another 20 ft. section of culvert will be added. Instead of
rebuilding the existing vertical headwall, extention of the
culvert will allow construction of a more moderate 2:1 headwall
slope.
The inlet section will be mitered reducing the entrance loss
factor from 0.9 (projecting from fill) to 0.7 (mitered conform-
ing to slope).
It should be noted that this culvert will be removed and the
channel reclaimed after the McClane Access Road described in
Munger Canyon Permit Revision is completed.
Sincerely,
John Walters
Chief Project Engineer
JW:sg
cc: William Bosworth
Sheridan Enterprises, Inc.
