Some of the
questions conceivably would be for BRL and some would be for the Division's internal
review. I thought it would be a good idea to run these questions by you before I send
something to the operator. Please let me know what you think.
As a note, the Division has informally inquired of the consultant, Jim Stover, whether or
not TR-22 can be withdrawn. BRL has said that they have no intentions to mine the D
seam closer than one mile from the Bruce Pazk Dam. Also, BRL is about to submit a new
mine plan for the underlying B seam coal. According to Jim Stover, that mine plan also
proposes mining no closer than one mile from the dam.
Addendum to Geotechnical Report -Bruce Pazk Dam
On page eleven, in Section 5.3.1 -Groundwater, it is stated that the piezometers at
the main and saddle embankments were measured when the water level in the
reservoir was 10 to 15 feet below the normal maximum pool. Would the lack of
piezometer measurements taken when the reservoir level was at maximum normal
pool be of concern when calculating the factor of safety for the reservoir
embankments?
2. On page one, in Section 1.3 -Background, it is stated that the main embaFllaFlent and
saddle embankment maybe raised by 3 to 6 feet. Would this future increase in
reservoir dam height affect the results and conclusions of these stability reports?
