The following shows the pH values two
days prior and two days after the incident.
March 27, 1996 8.19
March 28, 1996 8.21
March 29, 1996 9.02
March 30, 1996 8.64
March 31, 1996 7.95
The pH meter in the lab is calibrated daily. Weekend samples are collected by the mill,
preserved for cyanide analysis, and kept on ice throughout the weekend. An extra
bottle of sample is collected solely for pH analysis and is kept with the other bottles.
The value acts as an outlier, because there is no explanation according to how the mill
system was run throughout the weekend.
Sincerely,
Sally ayes Ka ser
Environmental Engineer
cc: Anne Baldrige
Dan Robertson
~~~
n „~'i.~
~~W e~
W y~ ~~ U
P.O.
