Cattany
Division Director
,i Natural Resource Tmstee
Preliminary Adequacy
The Division received your amendment application for the Reclamation Pit # 1 on March 4, 2004.
The original decision date was June 2, 2004 but was extended until June 21, 2004. The
amendment application was very well organized and substantially adequate as submitted. The
one area that will require some modification is the seeding section of the reclamation plan. The
application proposed changing the mix to comport with the Urban Drainage and Flood Control
District's seed mix since they have jurisdiction over areas adjacent to the river and also adjacent
to this site. The species included in the mix aze generally acceptable to the Division, however,
the application rates are too high for this azea.
In addition, our office received a comment from the West Adams Soil Conservation District
concerning the composition of the approved seed mix along with a suggested mix that would be
more appropriate for this area. Their mix, while not identical to your mix, contains many of the
same species and a couple of additional ones that we think would be beneficial to include in your
mix. Therefore, we have prepared a revised mix for your consideration. If this mix is acceptable,
please revise Table RV 2 for inclusion into the application.
Also enclosed for your review aze all of the comments that we received from various agencies
that may have an interest in this application. We believe most of the issues identified in these
letters have been adequately addressed throughout your application.
Thank you for your prompt consideration of this matter. If you have any questions, please
contact me at (303) 866-4926.
ly - `~.I~
Anthony Waldron
Environmental Protection Specialist
CC: Michael Walker- Denver Water
Dean Craft-Suburban Sand and Gravel Co.
Enclosure(s)
Office of Office of Colorado
AAlned I and Rerlamatinn Active and Inactive Mines GeoloRi<al Survey
