Dear Sir or Madam:
The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 1 l6, Paragraph 4,
of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on August 3, 2001, an application to revise coal mining operations at the Seneca R-W
Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by Seneca Coal Company. All review
and comment periods as provided in the Ac[ and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing.
This technical revision is for an increase of 10.5 acres to the disturbance area for additional topsoil removaVoperating room in
Section 26 and 35, TSN, R88W.
The Surface coal mining operation is on land located approximately 9 miles South of Hayden. The permit area is further
described as follows: '
TSN, R88W; All of Section 15; Portions of Sections 9, 10, 11, 14, 16, 2l, 22 and 23
T6N, R88W; Portions of Sections 14, 23 and 24
T6N, R87W; Portions of Sections 17, ] 8, 19
The above-mentioned (racLS of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Hayden Gulch.
The applicant is required to publish notice in a local newspaper that this application has been deemed complete. At the time of
publication of this notice, the applicant is additionally required to place a copy of this application a[ the Roult County
Courthouse, P.O. Box 773598, Steamboat Springs, CO 80477, and at [he Division office. For additional information or to
provide written comments, contact [he Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Sveet, Denver,
Colorado 80203, [phone]. In order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request that comments be
submitted within fifteen (IS) days of this letter. If no comments are received by then, we will proceed on the assumption that
you have no concerns with, or objections to, the applicant's proposal.
