Doerfer
RE: BOND CALCULATION AT PHASE I BOND RELEASE, FILE NUMBER C-81-048
A request for partial bond release was requested by Trinidad Basin Mining,
Inc. on June 7, 1985. Following the Division's adequacy review, a complete
request was received on December 12, 1985. The Division performed a bond
release inspection on March 5-6, 1986. As all major backfilling and grading
work had been completed at the mine site, the Division proceeded to evaluate
the request by recalculating the bond amount required to be retained to
perform the remaining reclamation work at the mine site. This memo serves to
document this evaluation.
The attached worksheets identify the remaining reclamation to be completed at
the Trinidad Basin Mine by the operator. The major tasks involved included:
well sealing; ripping of the haul road to Pits 4 and 5; diversion and
colllection ditch removal; pond removal and monitoring; and a set-aside for
reseeding which may be expected to occur during the 10-year vegetative
establishment period. The specific tasks are identified on the worksheets.
The 1986 Caterpillar Blue Book rates were used in arriving at the actual costs
required to perform each of these tasks. A11 of the supporting calculations
are identified on individual worksheets in determining the total reclamation
cost amount summarized on page 5.
/iml
4272E
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel.
