G9eingy
Status of Application:
Pre-Sketch work session November 7, 1997; sketch plan to be submitted thereafter.
Proposed Project/Purpose:
This application proposes the construction of a 15' to 24' diameter ventilation shaft
to maintain adequate mine ventilation air flows. This shaft will extend approximately
450' from the ground surface and intercept the "B" Coal seam. Oxbow
commissioned a mine ventilation study to evaluate overall mine ventilation
requirements. The study results will help to determine the need and location of any
required degasification boreholes and whether the proposed ventilation shaft will be
an open intake or complete ventilation installation with fan, housing and
control/monitor systems.
Project Location:
The proposed ventilation shaft will be constructed adjacent to Substation No. 3
which is approximately two miles east of the Somerset Town site. The proposed site
is on the old state highway ROW which serves as an alternative access to the mine;
the ventilation shaft will be approximately 300' from the existing highway ROW.
SPECIAL INFORMATION:
Water Source:
Oxbow owns four water rights including the following: 11 well permit decree #
79CW868; 2) Somerset Municipal Water Supply, Municipal Priority # J-91; 3)
Somerset Municipal Priority J-329; and 4) Water right decree 93CW97.
Waste Water:
No waste water facilities are proposed in association with this project
Attachments:
Site Plan
Vicinity map
