The
following federally listed species may occur within the area of influence of
the proposed permit revision.
Federally Listed Species
Colorado squawfish Ptychocheilus Lucius
Bonytail Gila elegans
Humpback chub Gila cypha
Razorback sucker Xyrauchen texanus
x-[Southwestern willow flycatcher Empidonax traillii extimus
None of the federally listed fish occur in the project area. However, each of
these species and their designated critical habitat are adversely affected by
any water depletion resulting from the project. The Office of Surface Mining
should therefore, determine whether the project will result in a water
depletion from the upper Colorado River basin. If so, formal consultation
under section 7 of the Endangered Species Act will be required.
The southwestern willow flycatcher is associated with vegetated riparian
corridors below 8,500 feet elevation. The Office of Surface Mining should
X determine whether vegetated riparian habitat will be disturbed by any phase of
the revision. If so, formal consultation under section 7 of the Endangered
Species Act may be required.
There are no proposed or Federal candidate species that may occur in the
project area.
S.
