Hernandez
Senior Reclamation Specialist
Mined Land Reclamation
1313 Sherman Street, Rm. 215
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Pete Lien & Sons, Weaver Quarry Mine, File No. M-89-010
Dear Mr. Hernandez:
This office has reviewed the Notice of Permit Application Consideration for
the above proposed project.
A search of the Colorado Inventory of Cultural Resources has indicated that
ther~a are no known sites located within the boundaries of this project.
However, the location of this mining operation is near a water source which
makes it highly probable that prehistoric and historic sites could be
found in the area. Early man sites are found to the north of this parcel
and there could be rock art on any cliff faces. If there have been no
previous land altering activities on the parcel, we recommend that a
cultural resource survey be undertaken to determine if eligible cultural
resources will be impacted by mining activities. This is done in
acco::dance with the Colorado Register of Historic Places Act (24-80.1).
If we may be of further assistance please contact Jim Green at 866-4674.
Sincerely,
~~,~. ~i
/ ~~
Jame:: E.
