Box 1447
Durango, Colorado 81301
Re: Preliminary Adequacy Review
112 Permit Amendment Application
Our File No. 76-20, "Thomas Pit"
Dear Mr. Williams:
I have completed my review of the application you submitted for the purpose
of amending the above-referenced Mining and Reclamation Permit. Please
find enclosed a copy of the concerns the Division has identified in re-
viewing your permit and the subject amendment. Our primary concerns relate
to your proposed operations within the river channel and the protection
of topsoil resources.
The normal procedure for the review of these amendments is the same as for
the permit applications themselves, in approximately a 90-day time frame.
The presentation of your amendment application is presently scheduled for
the October 28-29, 1981 meeting of the Mined Land Reclamation Board in
an attempt to accommodate your request for an accelerated review. If it
becomes apparent that you will not be able to complete your response to
the enclosed adequacy review and submit the public notice documents required
by Rule 2.2 before October 23, 1981, it will be very important that you
request that the matter be continued to the October meeting (not later than
October 27, 1981).
If you have any questions or difficulties in preparing your response,
please contact me.
Sincerely,
~(~
Peter H.
