Wendt <br />Peabody Coal Company <br />1300 South Yale <br />Flagstaff, Arizona 86001 <br />RE: Seneca II-W Mine (C-82-057) <br />Minor Revision 20 <br />Stipulation 19 Response <br />Dear Mr. Wendt: <br />The Division has received your request for a minor revision to the Seneca II-W mining permit. <br />The application is complete as submitted, and a decision regarding the application will be issued <br />on or before June O8, 1992. Stipulation 19 to the approval of Technical Revision 16 states: <br />"The operator shall submit to the Division a report describing findings of test pits in road <br />cut azeas identified as possible stability problems, indicating whether projections from <br />geologic mapping of the area were accurate. The operator shall also submit to the <br />Division a slope stability monitoring plan for the road cut areas identified by the <br />operator's consultant as possible stability problems. This plan should be approved by <br />the Division and installed prior to construction of the road:' <br />The Division has reviewed the geotechnical report submitted with the minor revision <br />application, The report appeases Division concerns of recent slope failure in some areas of the <br />proposed haul road. <br />Some adequary concerns were identified in the Haul Road G slope stability survey monument <br />installation plan. The monuments proposed are sufficient for that section of the road between <br />stations 48+00' and 52+00', but the Division will •also require monuments through station <br />57+00'. The monuments should be installed as proposed, at an interval of approximately 150', <br />with one monument located 25' from the crest of a cut or toe of a fill, perpendicular to the <br />road, and an additional monument at a 50' distance from the crest or toe.
