It is my understanding
that 7'BNt will be able to use highwall samples from the active pit (Section
22) to ascertain the chemical and physical characteristics of the over-
, burden at the Delagua Pline. These samples may also be used as representa-
ti~~e_samples of the overburden in Sections 15 and 10. however, if additional
,strata overlay the coal in Sections 15 and 10, then the additional strata
o, hly,~ will have to be sampled and analyzed for the same parameters as the highwall
samples. The samples will be analyzed for those constituents listed in
your baseline overburden guideline. Vertical sampling will follow i4yoming
DEQ guideline #1.
I appreciate your taking the time to review the overburden sanq~ling
plan, as this should help expedite your review of TB°4's application for a
coal mining permit under the soon to be approved Colorado State program.
If your understanding of the above differs from that detailed, please
notify rte as soon as possible so any misunderstanding may he corrected.
The program will initiated shortly and I would like to clarify any potential
problems before the program is conq~leted.
Sincerely,
i /i ,'
0
Richard P4i11s
Senior &hvironmental Specialist
RM:gt
cc: Jimcry Renfro
Mike N'CCarthy
P.
