Box 309 e~eg E. ewl~ne~ <br />Carbondale, CO 81623 F.ecunve D~~cuo~ <br />nlic hael B Long <br />Re: North Thompson Creek Mine (Permit No. GS1-025) Division D~reUOr <br />Technical Revision Application No. 21 (TR-21) <br />Addition of Coal Ownership Map, Reclassification of Bridges, Cleanings Disposal Site, <br />Retention of Road, Delete Topsoil Stockpile, & Abandon a Spillway <br />Dear Sir or Madam: <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, <br />Section 116, Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on October 19, 1999, an application to <br />revise coal mining operations at the North Thompson Creek Mine was considered complete (or the <br />purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by MINREC, Inc. All review and comment periods as <br />provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />This technical revision adds Drawing Number D-3-20, Coal Ownership Map, to the Permit. It <br />reclassifies bridges to foot traffic, provides for a pond cleanings disposal area, incorporates a letter <br />requesting retention of roads (see Enclosure), recognizes the elimination of a topsoil stockpile, and <br />recognizes an abandoned emergency spillway of Pond T-2. <br />The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 10 miles southwest of <br />Carbondale, Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows: <br />T8S, R89W; Portions of Sections 21, 22, 27, 28, 33. 34 and 35 <br />T9S. R89W; Portions of Sections 2, 3 and 4 <br />T7S, R88W: Portions of Sections 20, 29. 30 and 32 <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land aze shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Stony Ridge & <br />Carbondale. <br />A copy of the technical revision application is available (or public inspection at the Garfield County <br />Courthouse, 109 8th St, Ste 200. Glenwood Springs, CO 81601, and at the Division office. For <br />additional information or to provide written comments, contact the Division of Minerals and Geology, <br />Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver. Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567. In order for us to comply <br />with regulatory time frames, we request that comments be submitted within fifteen (15) days of this <br />letter or within 10 days after the publication in Lhe Glenwood Post, whichever is later.
