Arkansas Valley's recommended pls for the substitute
seed answers staff's questions. With the submittal of the TR the recommended seed pls should
be used. Their recommendations are slightly different for some species from the original but
that's not an issue.
Please understand that when talking about 3,750,000 seeds per pountl#orjust one species,
there is a huge difference between .5 and .02 pls per acre.( More seeds does not necessarily
make for better results. Seeds have to compete for moisture and nutrients and can result in less
than desirable results. That's the concern and basis for staff questions. The TR should have a
Table like the original fist with correct pls figures and total pls per acre. 12.36 pls/acre is fine as
suggested by Arkansas Valley.
if you need additional informatio
Grand Junction Field Office, 101
telephone no. 9'70.241.1117.
n, please contact me atahe Division of:Minerals and Geology, -. - ,.
S. 3rd St., Suite 301;'G'rand Junctions, Colorado 81501,
Sincerely'~,~, ~ ~~
G.
