<br />Conveyor, Coal Stockpile, Truck Loading System, New Pond and Production Increase
<br />Dear Mr.. Norris:
<br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Atticle 33, Section 118, Paragraph
<br />3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on May 27, 1999, an application to revise coal mining operations at the Bowie No.
<br />2 Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the
<br />Regulations initiate from this dale of filing.
<br />Approval of this permit revisicn would allow for the cons ruction of a downhill conveyor, 350,000 ton maximum coal
<br />stockpile, coal haul truck loading facility, a sedimentation pond and an increase in the anticipated annual coal production a[
<br />the Bowie No. 2 Mine from the present 2 million tons per year to 5 million tons per year. The coal stockpile and the truck
<br />loading facility would be in an azea notth and immediately adjacent to Old Highway 133. The new sedimentation pond, which
<br />would replace the present western-most pond B, would be located south and immediately adjacent to Old Highway 133,
<br />enlarging the permit area by 6 acres on land owned by Bowie Resources. The designed water holding capacity of the new
<br />pond is 4.1 acre-feet. The present pond B holds 2.49 acre-feet of water.
<br />The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 5 miles northeast of Paonia, Colorado. The permit
<br />area is further described as follows:
<br />Portions of Sections 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, l 1, 14, 15, and 16, Township 13 South, Range 91 West of the 6th P. M.
<br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Bowie.
<br />A copy of the revision application is available for public inspection at the Della County Courthouse, 5th & Palmer, Delta,
<br />CO 81416, and at the Division office. For additional information, to provide wri«en comments, or to request an informal
