Long <br />Dron~on Dneaar <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, <br />Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on June l2, 1997, an application to revise coal mining operations <br />at [he Golden Eagle Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by Basin <br />Resources, Inc.. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and [he Regulations initiate from this date <br />of filing. <br />This revision proposes to reduce the quarterly subsidence monitoring that is required. Due to mine closure in <br />December, 1995, the operator believes all significant subsidence has been identified and measured through <br />monitoring which has continued as per the approved plan. While quarterly monitoring may be discontinued, survey <br />monuments shall remain in-place until bond release to allow for additional measurements, if necessary. <br />The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 20 miles W of Trinidad, Colorado. The <br />permit area is further described as follows: <br />In all or portions of Sections 15-22, and Sections 27-34 of T33S, R67W; and Sections 3 and 4 of T34S, R67W. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Vigil. <br />A copy of the technical revision application is available for public inspection at [he Las Animas County Courthouse, <br />200 E First S[ Rm 104, Trinidad, CO 81082, and a[ [he Division office. For additional information or to provide <br />written comments, contact the Division of Minerals and Geology. Room 215, 1313 Sherrnan Street, Denver, <br />Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567. In order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request that comments <br />be submitted within fifteen (I S) days of this letter.
