111111111111lIIIIII
Dud:,sh, Joe
From: Brown, Sandy
Sent: Thursday, June 15, 2000 2:33 PM
To: Dudash,Joe
Cc: Berry, David
Subject: Oxbow TR-32, Elk Creek Reconstruction and Drainage Culvert
I put a copy of the lastest TR-32 response information on your desk for you to review. (I also took a copy of the hydrology
information submitted May 16.)
Tom Leidich came in this morning with the information on the extension of Culvert DF in place of Ditch D5. A couple of
drop structures were also added. Tom Leidich did not rerun SEDCAD for the culvert, he said the hyrology is the same.
Additionally, Ditch DB was added to control drainage along the road. SEDCAD calculations are presented for Ditch D6,
and typical channel designs have been added to the table titled, "Elk Creek Mine channel Designs".
With respect to the Elk Creek Reconstruction, the following information is relevant.
Revised (6/15/00) postmining topography, Drawing 2.05-M6
Revised (6/15/00) D-seam Portal Area Crass-sections
The following items are pertinent, but were not revised:
Table showing Elk Creek Mine Channel Designs
SEDCAD results for the Reclaimed Elk Creek -submitted 2/16/00
Elk Creek Longitudinal Profile 2.05 M7, submitted 5/16/00
Narrative page 2.05-63 (very general, may be revised by J. Nettleton) submitted 5/22/00
I explained our concerns to Tom regarding the reclaimed channel stability. Tom said the entire channel is designed for the
100 year 24-hour storm event. The capacity of the reclaimed channel he feels is adequate, and conservatively designed.
The entire length of the reclaimed channel will be armored with 9-12" rip rap. Plans for sealing the shafts will be submitted
by Jerry Nettleton in the next couple of days.
I forwarded an a-mail message I got from Jim Pendleton. He said to call if we have questions, but we are definitely on the
right track. Tom L. also encouraged us to call if we have any questions.
I asked Kathy Welt what their drop dead date is for this TR. She said they'd Tike to complete the review as soon as
possible, but they do not plan to start construction until August.
I will be out of the office until Thursday, June 29. I will be checking my voice mail so, please leave a message for me if you
have any questions.
