LOng
Division Director
RE: Adequacy Review, TR-44
Hydrologic Monitoring Reduction, Golden Eagle Mine, #C-81-013
Dear Ms. Begej:
The Division has completed review of Technical Revision (TR-44) for
the Golden Eagle mine.
1. Map 7B was submitted with the revised materials. Why does
this map only show a portion of the proposed monitoring sites?
Sites not shown include GEM-2 GEM-3, all NM sites and SF-2.
It would seem more appropriate to indicate all monitoring
sites on one map to avoid confusion.
2. Also, on map 7B, GEM-1 is shown ae an old ventilation shaft
site. The Division is aware of some 30 sites which will be
converted to an industrial land-use for gas extraction from
the mine. Will there continue to be access through a borehole
or other opening at this site, as well as the other GEM sites,
to conduct water sampling?
3. Related to question #1, text on page 2.05-47e indicates Map 7
presents the current monitoring stations. This should be
corrected based on the final resolution of the map issue.
Please submit responses to the above questions, assuming a Division
decision deadline of April 5, 1997. If you have questions, please
call me.
Sin ely,% y
~~~~~
Ke A. or am
Environmental Protection Specialist
CC: Dan Hernandez, DMG
