Long <br />Dn•isinn 6~eao• <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Anicle 33, Sec[ion 118, Paragraph <br />3, of the Colorado Revised Statues, [hat on May 27, 1999, an application to revise coal mining operations at the Bowie No. <br />2 Mine was considered complete for the purposes of tiling. All review and comment periods as provided in the Ac[ and the <br />Regulations initiate from this dale of filing. <br />Approval of thts permit revision would allow fur the construction of a downhill conveyor, 350,000 ton maximum coal <br />stockpile, coal haul truck loading facility, a sedimentation pond and an increase in the an[icipated annual coal production at <br />[he Bowie No. 2 Mine from the present 2 million tons per year to 5 million tons per year. The coal stockpile and the truck <br />loading facility would be N an area nonh and immediately adjacen[ to Old Highway 133. The new sedimentation pond, which <br />would replace the present western-most pond B, would be located south and immediately adjacent to Old Highway 133, <br />enlarging the permit area by 6 acres on land owned by Bowie Resources. The designed water holding capacity of the new <br />pond is 4.1 acre-feet. The present pond B holds 2.49 acre-feet of water. <br />The underground coal muting operation is on land located approximately 5 miles nor[heas[ of Paonia, Colorado. The permit <br />area is further described as follows: <br />Portions of Sections 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 14, l5, and l6, Township 13 South, Range 91 West of the 6[h P.M. <br />7'he above-mentioned trac[s of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Bowie. <br />A copy of the revision application is available for public inspection at the Delta County Counhouse, 5th & Palmer, Delta, <br />CO 81416, and a[ [he Division office.
