PLATTE SAND & GRATjEL LLC `~ ~~~~
P.O. BOX 712
LITTLETON, CO 80160
(303) 238-1130
March 27, 2006
Msr. Erica Crosby RECEIVED
Division of Minerals and Geology MAR l ~~Q6
1313 Sherman St, Suite 215 2
Denver, CO 80203 O~~~s~un~{ry~~,eralsandGealogy
Dear Mrs. Crosby;
RE: S&H Mine - Technical Revision ~~~
M.L.R.B. Permit # 2000-158 ~/
This Technical Revision is to make a minor change in the
direction of mining in the Sharkey's Lake area. We are in the
process of completing the mining in the area west of the Plant
Site. We need a new area to mine until the slurry wall is
completed and certified. we propose moving into southern end of
the Sharkey's Lake reservoir area during the slurry wall
constrution to keep our plant operating. No dewatering will take
place within the reservoir or mine area until the slurry wall is
completed and the QAQC is suppplied to the Division per our 2004
amendment.
In the Technical Revision of September 2005 we changed the
mining direction in this lake area from south to north and forgot
that there would be a problem during the winter months when the
eagles are roosting along the river. Mining is restricted in
mile buffer zoned during November to March on the west and north
sides of the Sharkey's Lake area. So modifying the mining direc-
tions will serve two purposes, it will provide an area to mine
outside the eagle buffer zone during winter and allow us to wet
mine gravel during construction of the liner without having to
open a new area in one of the other lake areas. Dewaterina will
not begin on this site until slurry wall is complete isolating it
from the surrounding aquifer. The $1,123,000 bond is adequate to
cover the cost for opening this new area as it allows having 69.0
acres of disturbance at this time. The amount of total distur-
bance existing and in the new anre will be less that 69.0 acres.
