I have completed a review of the Bowie Resources Limited (BRL) supplemental response
to our adequacy comments regarding TR-08, which you forwarded to my attention.
In my adequacy comments. I requested BRL provide an explanation of the specific
ground contnl and monitoring methodologies which they proposed to apply during
development mining through the fault trace between the East Pod and the West Pod, in
order to assure the prevention of detrimental subsidence impacts. BRL. has vnended their
application to appropriately address candidate ground control techniques. It has further
provided for monitoring and reporting of the ground control problems encountered and
implemented.
In response ro my adequacy comments, BRL has also clarified its reasoning for declining
to implement any subsidence control methods beneath Pond P-2. The pond is located in :
zone of intermediate subsidence, however the overburden below P-2 is nearly 1.000 feet.
BRL has provided evidence from previous undermining at the nearby Bowie No. I mine,
which demonstrates that no impacts to ponds and springs have been observed when
overburden exceeds 800 feet in thickness.
Mr. Stover's responses have resolved my eazlier geotechnical adeyuacy concerns.
