J. Dudash
Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Bowie Resources Limited
Bowie No 1 Mine
RECEIVED
NOV 1 5 2004
Division of Minerals and GeoloBY
Reduce Suspend Subsidence Monitoring
Permit No. C-81-038
Dear Mr. Dudash:
~-~ 5
CIVIL ENGINEERING
CONST. MANAGEMENT
On behalf of Bowie Resources, LLC, enclosed is an application to reduce the required
subsidence monitoring at the Bowie No. 1 Mine. Permit application page 147 states:
"Wide-spaced monument surveying shall continue on an annual basis until sites
are shown to be stabilized and approval to discontinue monitoring selected sites
is obtained from the Division. COVCC will inform the Division of proposed sites
to be surveyed in upcoming years in the Annual Subsidence Reports submitted
to the Division. COVCC will request Division approval of selected sites prior to
conducting the annual surveys:'
This request is to suspend subsidence monitoring on thirteen (13) wide spaced
monuments, stations 14, 15, 16, 6, 81, 82, 83, 95, 99, DH-55, DH-65, DH-66 and DH-
68. The attached table shows the thirteen monuments have been stable since
November, 2001, a period of three years. This date was chosen because it represents
the time Cragg Surveying started using GPS survey methods. Historic monitoring data
is also provided for each of the thirteen stations.
Very little, if any, information can be obtained from wide spaced subsidence monitoring
other than vertical elevation change over time. The monuments are too far apart to
determine angle of draw or break angle or to plot a subsidence profile.
A map which shows the location of the subsidence monuments is included for your
reference. Please call if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
~~
J. E. Stover, P. E.
Consulting Engineer
