The findings previously
made by the Division concerning these topics appear to be valid for the
expansion area as well.
All water rights in the mine plan and adjacent areas are for direct diversion
of surface water from the White River, which will not be directly affected.
There are no developed aquifers in the stratigraphic section that may be
affected by dewatering or subsidence. Approximately 36 GPM of mine water
inflow was reported in the latest Annual Hydrology Report, and this figure is
unlikely to increase to the point where it becomes an operational or
environmental problem. Finally, previous surface subsidence predictions of 2
to 6.2 feet over longwall panels appear valid, and probably conservative, for
the expansion area.
I recommend that we accept these sections of the application as submitted.
WBC/yjb
cc: Larry Routten
8179E
