-:
~ iii iuiiiiiiiiii iii
0
STATE OF COLORADO
Roy Romer, Gove
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
FRED R. BANTA, Director
May 19, 1989
Mr. Rick Hughes
Colorado Yampa Coal Company
29587 Routt County Road No. 27
Oak Creek, Colorado 80467
Re: Technical Revision 23, Hydrologic Features/Small Area Exemptions, File
No. C-81-071
Dear Mr. Hughes:
On May 16, 1989, we received your response to our adequacy letter of
April 4, 1984. Some additional issues must be resolved prior to our issuance
of an approval decision. The decision deadline had been continued to
May 12, 1989; therefore, we recommend that an additional continuance should be
requested to avoid a denial notice.
The following issues must be resolved:
We requested that Map 9A be revised to include the entire permit
and drainage area for the southwest portion of the mine. It was
our hope that the mapped area could be shifted to the north about
2 inches to allow the required incorporation. The southwest area
is relatively small and it seems that accurate topographic
information should be available for the area, given the fact that
topographic information is available for all adjacent areas to the
north, west and east. This is verified by the topographic maps
submitted as supplements 1 and 2.
The purpose of this technical revision was to provide a single
concise map which shows all required hydrologic features. The
submitted maps 9A and l0A are excellent except for the omission of
the southwest area. It is understood that it will be necessary for
your draftsman to apply additional and valuable time, perhaps along
with some editing of existing map sheets. However, the added work
should result in a product that both satisfies the legal
requirements and satisfies the original purpose of the technical
revision. Please revise maps 9A and 1DA to incorporate the
southwest area.
15 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203.2273 Tel. (303) 866-3567
