The present ground-water monitoring program
has provided information rhich hoe delineated baseline
conditions concerning ground-water movement and quality in
the active operations area.
The results obtained from data collected in the field and
from comprehensive water quality analysis indicate that
surface end ground-rater quality has not been significantly
impacted from the natural pre-mine conditions. In addition,
me~or ground-water movement patterns have not been
significantly influenced or interrupted by mining activities.
Subsurface rater cells are monitored quarterly by Coors
Energy Company employees. The six cells monitored area
SMW-2
AMW-1
AMW-2
FPW
• DH-96
DH-122
Analysis includes both field and lab rock on all relle.(See
AMW-2 update, this section, Pege 60)
During field testing, rater level is measured from the top of
the casing and recorded prior to rater sampling. Water is
sampled rith a one liter PVC bailer. Five bailer volumes are
typically removed before taking the water sample. When the
sample ie obtained, lab analysis and field analysis bottles
transportation to the laboratory. Testing of the field rater
sample is then completed.
The rater sample is tested to pH level, electriaal
conductivity, measured calibrated each quarter at the time of
rater sampling rith a neutral solution of 7.0 pH. The
conductivity meter used measures electrical conductivity et
the sample temperature rhich is set automatically by the
meter. All the information that is collected during field
testing is recorded in a field book rhich is kept at the Mine
office.
•
-56- 4/93
