All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the
Regulations initiate from this date of filing.
Approval of this permit revision would increase the permit boundary to the west by 560 acres and allow for longwall mining
west of the present mining, and west of the main fault, but just east of Terror Creek. Additionally, it is being proposed that one
gob vent borehole and its associated light use road would be constructed. All 560 proposed additional acres are on Federal lance
and, with this approval, would bring the remainder of the Iron Point Tract Federal Coal Lease into the Bowie No. 2 pemtit. A
portion of the proposed reining had previously been approved as retreat mining of a room and pillar operation.
The DMG requests written verification regarding Federal mining lease approval. Bowie Resources Limited has referenced the
Federal mining lease agreement COC-61209 in this application as a document upon which they base their legal right to enter.
Please verify that the lease has been issued and that final BLM/federal agency lease approval has been granted. If the lease
application is pending, please notify DMG as to the status of the lease review and when a decision is anticipated. Verification
of Federal lease agreements should be sent to me at the address listed above.
The Underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 5 miles Northeast of Paonia, Colorado. The permit
azea is further described as follows:
Portions of Sections 2, 3, 4. 9, 10, 11, l4, I5, and 16, Township 13 South, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M.
Portions of Sections 33 and 34, Township 12 South, Range 91 Wesl of the 6th P.M.
The above mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Bowie.
A copy of the revision application is available for public inspection at the Paonia Public Library, 140 Grand Avenue, Paonia,
CO 81428, and a[ the Division office.
