Dept. of Natural Resource
This is in reply to your two questions concerning our limestone
quarry permit application.
First, with respect to a safety bench at the top of the final
quarry excavation area. Our reclamation plan is to scale the
final pit with a series of five foot benches with highwalls not
to exceed twenty feet. All loose rock that might tumble
down into or adjacent to the quarry will be removed and the
highwalls will be backfilled with all available fines that have
been produced during the operation of the quarry.
Second, with respect to our drainage plan within the quarry
during the years it is operable. We do not believe that there
will be any drainage problem because the area above the quarry
naturally drains to the small gullies to the east and west where
we are providing for adequate drainage controls. However, if a
drainage problem should exist within the quarry pit area, we will
build diversion ditches above the area being worked that will
insure that any water flow that might develop immediately above
the pit area will enter the natural gullies to the east and west
rather than cascading down through the quarry site.
Documents securing the recommended reclamation bond of $7,000
are being prepared and will be forwarded within the next few days.
Sincerely,
Geor e E.
