A total of 59 acres of surface disturbance from <br />mining is covered by a Coal Reclamation Bond in the amount of $477,085. The permittee is not applying <br />for a redaction in the bond amount by this action. <br />In a separate filing with the Division, Basin Resourses is requesting a bond release for areas approved as <br />"Industrial Use" as a post-mining land use classification. The reclamation bond would be subject [o a <br />reduction of $111,490 by this action. These facilities are also permitted with the State of Colorado, Oil and <br />Gas Conservation Commission, and are subject to the Commission's bonding requirements. <br />The Golden Eagle Mine is located on State Hrvy. 12 approximately 30 miles west of Trinidad, Colorado, in <br />Sections 20, 21, 23 3; 29, T33S, R6', W. These sections can be located on the USGS 7.5 minute Vigil <br />quadrangle map. The Mine ceased production on December 31, 1995. In accordance with the approved <br />reclamation plan, sealing of the mine shafts was completed by May 1996; removal of surface facilities, <br />foundations and footers by November 1996; and roueh and tinal grading, returning the surface to <br />approximate original contour, and establishment of drainage channels and controls by January 1997. <br />Seeding and mulching of the disturbed areas was completed by June 1997.
