Lochhead
Eyeculive Director
michael 8. I onl;
Drvumn Direuor
The Division has the following comments regazding Trapper's above-referenced bond release
submittal.
"Contour" treatment/practice. In selecting a CN from Figure S-4, Trapper considered all
of its reclaimed blocks to have been "contoured", which is a tillage practice. Page 4-256 of
the permit document explains that Trapper had planned in its reclamation work to possibly
use contour furrows, small depressions, etc. for erosion control, but there has been no
subsequent documentation that those practices actually occurred. What is Trapper's basis for
considering all of its bond released blocks as contoured ?
Coyote Pond sediment survey. In order to compaze pre-mining and post-mining TSS
yields, the Division is using sediment survey data for calculating the historical sedimentation
rate in Trapper's ponds which receive runoff from the bond release parcels. We have
adequate data for all ponds except Coyote Pond. Please provide us a copy of the data from
your most recent sediment survey of Coyote Pond.
If you have any questions, please call me.
Sincerely,
~uva~ ~.~
Tom Kaldenbach
Environmental Protection Specialist
STATE OF COLORADO
cc: David Berry.
