Wakhcr
Ezeculive Director
Michael B. long
Division Director
The Division received your notice to change labs for urocessing water samplrxs from the required
' ~" monitoring stations. You intend to ship all your water samples to the SVL Agalytical, Inc, lab in
^°I Kellogg, Idaho.
~• Pursuant to T.R.-06, the lab must be certified by the E.'A (Colorado Department of Public Health
I and Environment) and must comply with sample procc ssing protocol. You provided a copy of an
acceptable certification (which expires August 31, 2001) and a list of reporting limits and
processing methods which aze acceptable. The detectic n limits for three analytes seem to be too
high. I believe the detection limit should be at or less ti an 0.001 mgll for silver, cadmium and
lead. The reporting limits on page one (0.001 mg/1 for ~~Il but cadmium, which is 0.0001 m~,9)
would be acceptable detection limits. Submit an updated cert.ncate to the Division by October 1,
2001 and address the proposed detection limits for silvc r, cadmium and lead.
Remember, the samples must be shipped and received i) a chilled state (4 degrees Fahrenheit).
Failure to do so could compromise the analyses. In addil ion, all holding time linoitations must be
abided by in order to ensure accurate test results.
If you have any questions, please give me a call.
Sincerely,
lames Dillie
Environmental Protection Specialist
