M-1999-011 /
Dear Sir:
The High Plains Conservation District initiated by your release request consideration
letter, requested NRCS make a field visit to the Craig Pit.
On April 27, 2004, NRCS found that the pit area and haul road does not have an
establish grass cover on them at this date in time. The south bank that was shaped of
the pit area has very little grass cover or weed cover on it, but does not show any active
erosion at this time. The level bottom area of the pit has sweet clover cover coming on
about 2/3's of the area. The east 1/3 of the pit area showed very little grass or any
vegetation on it. The level bottom of the pit area does not show any active erosion now,
but if vegetative cover does not establish, water and wind erosion problems may arise.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at, (719)743-2408 ext. 101.
Thank you,
~e=lam
Trisha Kischefsky
District Manager
CONSERVATION -DEVELOPMENT -SELF-GOVERNMENT
