This
powerline is located to the south of the pit, near the rim.
The closest powerpole was found to be approximately 42' away from the rim of the
pit, behind the perimeter berm. At that point, the slope of the pit is near vertical and
then abruptly changes 30' down to a 60 degree slope. The slope has stabilized
under these conditions.
It is my opinion that this slope will not fail in a manner causing this closest
powerpole to fall over thereby creating a disruption in power or safety concern. My
analysis shows that this area has extremely good drainage and rests far above the
existing water table. Therefore slope failure due to water related circumstances is
unlikely. Most likely, if the slope does fail, it will continue to follow the 60 degree
slope angle. If the slope does fail in this manner, the attached drawing shows that
the area around the existing powerpole will remain intact.
Therefore, since this closest powerpole is safe in regards to slope stability of the pit,
the other poles, owned by Holy Cross Energy are also safe. Should you have any
further questions regarding this manner, please do not hesitate to cal{ my me at 244
- 8703 ;sue=.... ~
,~' ~~p REC;Sj•
Sincerely, ~,oe' •~'~`' En~'as„7 1
Chris Steven Russell '>) _~',,~~Z~-
Colorado professional geol ~~nd engir
President -A.I.C. -Grand Jun t{~h,';~ft1~` ~~;,
F.~ ~~•.I'~t.~
C~~'•i ~ C 1:5~
A.LC. - u full service engineeringJirm Giv:c ~~ `"r`-'=rpl , & Gay''. ,
