I apologize for the delay in getting these to you and
appreciate your working with both Forsgren Associates and our client Bridalveil
Construction.
Comment Responses:
Response 1.-All materials used to increase the elevation of bench 1 will be generated
on site and will consist of oversize from the 1-inch screening process.
Response 2. -Lifts will consist of 1 - 3' in depth. Due to the angular nature of the
material, and the interlocking of the aggregate, stability issues are not expected.
Material will be smoothed into lifts and then compacted by a minimum of 3 time passes
of a tire or tread from rubber tired equipment. This same procedure with the same
material was used recently on the Bridalveil Townhome project and produced excellent
subbase for the foundation. Due to the blocky nature of the material, typical compaction
-.,testing procedures such as a nuclear density_gauge or sand cone cannot be used to _ _
determine final dry densities. Additionally, a standard proctor cannot be completed on
this type of material.
Response 3. -The out-facing (west) slope will be graded to blend naturally with the
native ground. It is expected that is grade will be 1:5:1. This will be labeled on the map.
Response 4. -The northern access road has been eliminated. This included
completely removing the access turnout from U.S. Hwy. 550 as well as digging the
approach out, removing the culvert and regrading the right-of-way. Additional work to
still be accomplished will include regarding the upper portion of the road to blend with
the natural topography and reseeding the area. It is expected that these continuing
requirements will be completed this fall.
Response 5. -The slope gradient was inadvertently changed to 60°dueto trigonometric
error 1:5:1 vs. 1:1:5. The approved slope is 1:5:1 and will be labeled as such.
A COMPANY OF ENGINEERS AND SCIENTISTS 849 FRONT STREET, SUITE N201 / EUANSTON, WY 82930 / (307) 789.6735 /FAX (307J 789.6746
REXBURG /BOISE /WYOMING / WENATCHEE /SALT LAKE CITY /SACRAMENTO
wwwi°rsgren.c°m
