Please lay
out its location so it does not flow uphill. Our transfer of the
ditch to the post-mining map shows it going uphill in its terminal
700' and for approximately 500' in its northernmost loop.
RESPONS ~~L
The Division's evaluation of Ditch B-2 shown on Map 16a, Kerr
Mine Area Hydrology is correct. The location shown for Ditch
B-2 is not correct. This location was designed for the
permit revision which was submitted to the Division in 1989.
During the mid-term review process, the postmining topography
for the area draining to Ditch B-2 was modified; however the
relocation of Ditch B-2 corresponding with the revised
postmining topography was inadvertently omitted. The proper
location of Ditch B-2 has been plotted on Map 16a, Kerr Mine
Area Surface Water Hydrology. Additionally, as requested by
the Division, Kerr has also plotted Ditch B-2 on Map 37a,
Kerr Mine Area Postmining Topography, to show its exact
location over the approved postmining topography. Revised
Map 37a, Kerr Mine Area Postmining Topography is included
with this submittal. Please note that Map 16a, Kerr Mine
Area Surface Water Hydrology, was submitted with the mid-term
review comments last week.
b) Please replace the ditches along the roads on Map 16a.
RESPONSE
As requested by the Division, Kerr has replotted the haulroad
ditches on Map 16a, Kerr Mine Area Surface Water Hydrology.
This revised map was submitted along with the mid-term
responses last week. Additionally, to alleviate Division
concerns regarding the design of these ditches, Kerr has
prepared design specifications and provided revisions to
Exhibit 42, Drainage and Sediment Control Plan reflecting
these designs. We have also modified appropriate permit
pages in Sections 816.153 through 816.163, Figure 25a,
Existing Class I Roads Typical Sections, and Figure 26a,
Proposed Class I Roads Typical Sections, to reflect these
designs. You will note when reviewing this information that
with only one exception, all haulroad ditches are triangular
shaped with 2H:1V sideslopes and a depth of 1.0 foot or less.
~BK~= zx4x~- z~at
1
