This application,
required of Kerr by settlement agreement with DMG and OSMRE, presents
the required amendment to the backfilled configuration of the Marr mine
Pit Flo. 1.
Geouechnically, because every modification appears to flatten the
eventual slopes, I don't perceive that any slope stability problems will be
encountered by the enhanced reclamation grading. The only concern I
foresee will be consolidation of the backfilled portions of Pit No. 1. Marr
has evidenced consolidation of backfill previously. Any cracking should be
treatable with minimal clean up and filling of cracks. At the worst minor
regrading might be required if gradient reversals were to occur in the
lower gradient drainage swales.
In my opinion, the proposed design is acceptable as proposed.
cc: David Berry
Doc: M:/COAL/JAP/MARRPITI.TR
