Box 518
Somerset, Colorado 81434
Re: Permit Boundry Overlap between Bear Coal Company and Mt. Gunnison No. 1
Mine (C-81-033)
Dear Mr. Springer:
During a review of Mt. Gunnison's technical revision to remove 320 acres from
its permitted area it came to the Division's attention that the current Mt.
Gunnison Permit area overlaps with the proposed Bear Coal Permit area. This
area will have overlapping permit areas with a common area of potential
subsidence effects. The area involved is N/2 N/2 N/2 NE/4, NE/4 NE/4 NE/4
NW/4 Section 20 and S/2 S/2 S/2 SE/4, SE/4 SE/4 SE/4 SW/4 Section 17, and a
wedge in the far southwest corner of Section 16, T13S, R90W of the 6th P.M.
We have contacted Mt. Gunnison Mine No. 1 about this concern also. We are
requesting that Mt. Gunnison and Bear Coal Company strike an agreement
detailing who shall be responsible for any subsidence effects in these areas.
This agreement needs to be made prior to November 16, 1985 to avoid any
complications with the approval of pending revisions.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me or Sue Mowry.
Since ly,
/ ~~
Randall P.
