iii iiiiiiiiiiiii iii <br />December 1. 2000 <br />RECEIVED <br />DEC 0 4 2000 <br />Vernon and Peggy Burch <br />8325 Firethorn Drive <br />Loveland, CO 80538 <br />Oiuision of Minerals and Geology <br />Mr. Carl Mount <br />Division of Minerals and Geology <br />1313 Sherman Street Rm 215 <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br />Dear Mr. Mount: <br />We are residents of Masonville, Colorado and we are writing you to express our concern <br />about the proposal to expand quarry operations submitted to your department by Glenn <br />Southwick DBA Masonville Stone Company. <br />Our home is in close proximity to the quarry and want to express our concerns about the <br />following issues: <br />(1) Business hour infractions including work performed at the quarry on Thanksgiving <br />Day; <br />(2) Overburden from the quarry being held in place only by living trees; <br />(3) Excessive noise and dust levels that we feel exceed allowable limits; <br />(4) Equipment that may not meet safety standards; <br />(5) Reclamation efforts are not being made; <br />(6) Increased truck traffic operating into the night; <br />(7) Further loss of wildlife habitat; <br />(8) Stormwater management not being performed; <br />We feel expansion of the existing quarry operation is incompatible with the residential <br />growth in the Buckhorn Valley and we respectfully ask that your department deny this <br />request for expansion. <br />Thank you for your consideration. <br />Sincerely, <br />~~,~~~ <br />Veritdf~dnd Peggy Burch <br />
