Box 1754, Paonia, CO, 81428, has submitted a complete <br />application for the renewal of a valid, existing permit to conduct coal mining reclamation <br />activities in Colorado to the Division of Minerals and Geology, for its mining permit No. C-81- <br />033. <br />The Bear No. 3 Mine is located immediately south and east of the town of Somerset, CO. The <br />North Fork of the Gunnison River is located north of the Mine. The mine permit area is <br />located on the U.S. Geological Survey 7.5 minute Somerset Quadrangle map within the <br />following sections. <br />Townshia 13 South. Private minerals within the proposed <br />permit area encompass 104.4 acres with Federal minerals accounting for the balance of 1004 <br />acres. The surface of the permit area is owned by Bear Coal Company, Oxbow Carbon and <br />Minerals, Arch Coal Company, Clarence L. Werner Revocable Trust, and the U. S. <br />Government which owns approximately 28.8 acres of the permitted land in Section 21. <br />A copy of the application is available for public inspection at the Paonia Public Library, 140 <br />Grand Avenue, Paonia, CO, and at the offices of the Division of Minerals and Geology, 1313 <br />Sherman St., Room 215, Denver, CO, 50203, {303) 866-3567.
