Walker, Byron
From: Jerry Nettleton [JNettleton@peabodyenergy.com]
Sent: Tuesday, May 10, 2005 12:00 PM
To: byron.walker@state.co.us
Subject: Twentymile Coal Company - Foidel Creek Mine (Permit C-82-056) - TR05-48 Completeness
and Inspection Issue
TROS-48 Public
Notice Rl.doc
Byron
Attached is a revised Public Notice for TROS-98, addressing the
completeness concerns noted in your courtesy e-mail and follow-up letter.
Pat O'Brien of Metcalf Archaeology was contacted re: the referenced report
for the supplemental cultural resource investigations. The report was
mailed Friday (5/6/05), so we anticipate receiving it today. On receipt,
we will forward a copy of the report to you via Fedex. Hopefully, these
two items will address the outstanding completeness issues.
Relative to the localized surficial flooding observed during your recent
inspection at the Northwest Mains Ventilation Fan, the upset discharge
referenced in my previous e-mail was contained within the designed ASC
structures and adjacent topographic lows, with no discharge that we could
detect reaching Fish Creek. Subsequent checks of the site indicate that
the flooded areas are drying out (both through natural infiltration and
evapo-transpiration) fairly quickly, with vegetation in the area
greening-up rapidly. The excess water we observed highlighted some
deficiencies in the designed ASC's (primarily a function of very low
gradients that were not detectable from the surface mapping used in the
design), that we anticipate addressing through design modifications and a
Minor or Technical Revision to the Permit.
Thanks for your continuing cooperation and input. Please feel free to
contact me with any questions or to discuss related items -
Best regards,
Jerry
(See attached file: TROS-98 Public Notice Rl.doc)
E-mail Disclaimer: The information contained in this e-mail, and in any
accompanying documents, may constitute confidential and/or legally
privileged information.
