Long <br /> <br />Denver, CO 80202-5733 Division Director <br />Re: Golden Eagle Mine (Permit No. C-81-013) <br />Technical Revision Application No. 48 <br />Terminate Subsidence Monitoring <br />Dear Mr. Kline: <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, <br />Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on September 03, 1998, an application to revise coal mining <br />opera ions at the Golden Eagle Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was <br />submitted by Basin Resources, Inc.. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations <br />ini[ia[e from this date of filing. <br />This revision proposes to terminate subsidence monitoring of established monuments over longwall mined areas. <br />Mining ceased in December 1995 and based on data collected since that [ime, additional subsidence is not likely. <br />Monumen[s will remain in-place through final bond release should additional monitoring be warranted. <br />The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 20 miles west of Trinidad, Colorado. <br />The permit area is further described as follows: <br />In all or por[ions of Sections 15-22, and Sections 27-34 of T33S, R67W; and Sections 3 and 4 of T34S, R67W. <br />The above-mentioned trace of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Vigil. <br />A copy of the technical revision application is available for public inspection at the Las Animas County Courthouse, <br />200 East First Street, Room 104, Trinidad, CO 81082, and at the Division office. For additional information or <br />to provide written comments, contact the Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, <br />Denver, Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567. In order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we reques[ that <br />comments be submitted within fifteen (15) days of this letter.
