MANAGEMENT
On behalf of Bowie Resources Limited,"BRL" enclosed is an application for a technical
revision to provide for longwall mining in the B-Seam. This technical revision
application addresses permit stipulation number 18.
Related Permit Actions
Stipulation No. 18 requires the submittal and Division approval of a technical revision
that addresses the impacts of subsidence induced rockfall from longwall mining in
panels WB-1 and WB-2, including identification of structures that need to be protected
from such rockfalls and the design of appropriate protection measures for those
structures and the construction of the protection measures.
Project Description
BRL has refined its B-Seam mine plan so it can accurately project the angle of draw for
the longwall panels. The angle of draw for the D-Seam was projected to affect a
portion of the sandstone outcrop above the utility bench so a rock protection berm was
constructed to protect mine facilities and the public. The angle of draw for the B-Seam
from mining in panels WB-1 and WB-2 may slightly affect the sandstone outcrop in an
area already affected by the D-Seam above the utility bench. Any subsidence induced
rockfall from longwall mining in panels WB-1 and WB-2 will be contained in the existing
rockfall protection berm. Therefore, no additional structures need to be protected and
no protection measures need to be developed.
