Farrell
Reclamation Specialist
Mined Land Reclamation
1313 Sherman St., Rm. 423
Denver, CO 80203
• iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
Re: Animas Aggregates, Inc. -- Alexander Pit Amendment
File No. M-76-032
Dear Ms. Farrell:
This letter is offered in response to your recent correspondence
regarding the above cited application amendment. The following information
is presented on a point-by-point basis in the order of the inquiries given.
Introduction
Attached are proof of publication and proof of mailing the required
notices.
Exhibit D - Mining Plan
lA. The rejected rock piles to be removed are loose, unconsolidated
and piled on the low terrace described in the application. The texture and
differences in compaction of the underlying ground will help establish the
base of the pile. The photographs included in the application amendment
should help illustrate the apparent differences. However, since the
underlying material is in other ways similar to to the tailings (eg. lack
of soil and vegetation, generally coarse alluvium) end because the surface
will the be reclaimed by smooth grading, disturbance which may locally
occur to the underlying material may certainly be considered
inconsequential.
1B. As stated in Exhibit D of the application, no activity will take
place in the stream. There are thus no plans to mine or disturb the
channel.
2A. A U.S.G.S, recording station was located about one mile upstream
(on the San Miguel) during the water years of 1959-1965. The data from
that station is the only specific discharge information available and is
given as follows for the months in which the crossing may be made:
I ' I (~ tiuuth Perk llri~ c.:~Ltnumcnt, Culur~d~~ R01 ~? t i0~ ~ tHt{ ?'h~)
