Dudash ~~
Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division ,{~ ,~
1313 Sherman Street `~~,`~-. '~
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Rimrock Coal Mine, Permit No. C-89-074 JAN 2 1993
Minor Revisions 1 & 2 MINFRq~S~ iG~;;.~..
Dear Mr. Dudash,
Minor Revision No.l
Please find enclosed a map indicating the locations of the two
drill holes drilled on January 11th and 12th. The holes were
drilled to coal and core recovery was intended however little
success was realized. Approximately two feet of core was recovered
over the 30 ft. of core attempted. No aquifers were intercepted.
The drill holes were backfilled and a cement plug was installed at
the top 4 ft. of the holes. An existing road was used to access
the area and no new roads or drill pads were constructed. There
was no addition surface disturbance from what is permitted and the
drill holes were well within the permit boundaries.
Minor Revision No. 2
The pond was expanded after Greg Lewicki inspected the initial
construction for certification and advised Landmark that the
capacity was inadequate. Once expanded the pond was measured and
certified by Mr. Lewicki. (See his letter of 12-23-92). During
expansion operations the topsoil was salvaged and temporarily
stored adjacent to the pond area. That topsoil has since been
moved to the stockpile storage area as permitted. Overburden
material was also temporarily stored at the coal stockpile area,
the area permitted for disturbance adjacent to the pond area. This
material will be moved to overburden storage areas adjacent to
active pit areas. As explained to you last week, Landmark is
presently evaluating the economics of a punch mine to supplement
production operations and there is a good probability the strip
operations will not disturb nearly as much surface as currently
permitted.
Please call me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
~~~
Mark Rerr
Operations Manager
4901 South Windermere Street.
