It is trot in the best interest of [he citizens of Larimer County to allow
expansion of the Slab Canyon Quarry before reclamation of already mined areas has
taken place.
2. The proposed reclamation plan -- construction of tree pads, creation of rock
pile fine traps, and preservation of any remaining highwalls - - while inltovative, is
untested and unproven. These techniques should be demonstrated as successful in
the Slab Canyon environment before the mining area is expanded.
3. The proposed reclamation plan does not appear to re-establish vegetation
and other habitat characteristics as naturally occur in the Slab Canyon e~TVironment.
Replacing one habitat with another will effectively displace current wildlife
populations from the area forever.
4. Impacts upon County roads must be addressed.
Please enter our objections into the record for the public comment period ending on
July 13, 1993. Thank you.
Sincerely,
v ~d t ASS'""' ~
Chai
District I
~V~C/~
Janet Duvall
Commissioner
District II

Jim Disney
Commissioner
District III
jd
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
Courtlyn W.
