---~ ~~~N
_~
ASSO©ATION
- - _ ING
The Naliww!
Fuel Suppl}-
Mr. Dan Mathews
Division of Minerals & Geology
2148 Broadway, #C5
Grand Junction, CO 81503
RE: MINOR REVISION
DEVELOPMENT HOL
PERMIT NO C-81-018.
Dear Mr. Mathews:
May 5,
III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
NO. 119 REQUEST FOR DRILLING A COAL
E AT BLUE MOUNTAIN ENERGY'S DESERADO MINE.
Blue Mountain Energy is requesting a minor revision of the Deserado Mine Permit in order to drill
a new coal development hole 310132-24. The data from this hole will be used to decide whether
the start line for the longwall #2 in B-Seam should be extended further to the west.
This hole will be a conventional exploration hole drilled with 5-5/8 inch bit. The hole will be logged
with geophysical tools immediately and then be plugged, marked and reclaimed as specified in
the permit. The hole will be plugged before the drilling rig leaves the drilling location. The total
depth of this hole is expected to be 364 feet.
Access to the proposed location will be by an existing two track road. No new access will be
required. At the location, the vegetation and topsoil will be removed from the area to be occupied
by the drill rig (50' x 100' each) and the mud pit. Vegetation will be dozed into a pile at one end of
the site and the topsoil dozed into a pile at the other end of the site to facilitate reclamation. The
mud pit will be a dozer cut pit of sufficient capacity (10'x6'x3') to contain the cuttings and fluids
produced during drilling. No cutting or leveling of the site is planned or anticipated. Large brush,
where it exists, may be dozed down to prevent damaging vehicles and to prevent fires.
Map 138 in the permit has been revised to show the proposed new hole and access to it. Two
copies of permit page II.B-13 and three copies of Map 138 are attached to this minor revision
request. This map also shows the location for a proposed return shaft (RS#2) and a West Mains
ventilation shaft (WMVS#1). An application to drill these shafts will be forwarded separately in the
near future.
Sincerely,

MPS:Igp
cc: Bob Norrgard
Scott Wanstedt
Ed Thatcher w/o
BLM -Meeker
Murari P.
